Rejuvabake

Rejuvabake is a baking service that provides a step-by-step baking activity kit for caregivers and their aging loved ones. The kit is a multi-sensory experience that activates all of the senses while engaging users through simple tasks that nurture cognitive abilities.

While working at a retirement home I learned a lot about working with people who have Dementia and Alzheimers. The problem that has occurred is through observation is that baking activities are not typically developed for people with dementia and Alzheimers. Complex multiple-step activities might be challenging for people with Dementia or Alzheimer’s; they might forget how to do the task or how to perform it. Simplifying recipes or dividing tasks is critical for this idea to work.

Online Website & Store

Rejuvabake is an e-commerce website, where kits can be purchased. Our customers can learn about how Rejuvabake uses natural ingredients and different ways of baking and cooking for aging people.

My Solution to this Problem was creating Rejuvabake. We at Rejuvabake formulate easy to follow recipes that will activate all of the senses including touch, sound, sight, and smell. While also bringing awareness to how stimulating the senses improve physical and cognitive symptoms of dementia.

Fidget Baking Apron

I created this apron to be part of the user experience of my company. A common part of Dementia and Alzheimer’s is movement disorders such as; tremors, muscle spasms and muscle weakness. The apron allows for elderly person to grab and pull when they are experiencing a muscle spasm that helps relieve pain. The apron also holds different ingredients, tools, and the recipe cards. This allows for the person to be able to customize what tools are needed and the ingredients they are working with.

Baking Sheets

The Baking Sheets correlate with the recipe cards. The Recipe cards tells them where to place the ingredient by the shape that is given. It behaves like a puzzle where they are not just baking but they are strengthening their mind by following these steps while creating a sensory experience. This allows to combine two things that elderly people love to do.
